We are supporting a school in Hertfordshire to appoint a Director of Finance and Business Operations. The school has recently undergone expansion and a multi-million-pound refurbishment programme.
The Director of Finance and Business Operations will drive strategy, manage resources and maintain educational excellence across the school. This role provides financial oversight, compliance, and staff leadership while delivering strategic insights to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Trustees and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as Chief Finance Officer, leading the school's financial strategy, compliance and sustainability
* Advise the Headteacher, SLT and Trustees on financial matters, strategic risks, and funding agreement compliance
* Prepare and manage the school's Annual Budget, forecasts, management accounts, and financial reports
* Lead a team of six including finance and premises staff
* Ensure compliance with payroll, pensions, VAT and regulatory requirements
* Oversee IT systems to support staff and students effectively
* Support the HR Manager with financial administration of staff appointments and leavers
The successful Director of Finance and Business Operations will be a part/fully qualified accountant with experience of financial and accounting regulation within an educational setting.
You will have knowledge of procedures and regulations relevant to leading the finance function of an Academy. You will be fully IT literate with expertise in using MS Excel and computerised financial systems.
A natural leader with strong leadership skills, you will be able to provide clear advice and guidance to managers at all levels on financial issues.
