We are recruiting a Food Safety and Quality Intern for a 6 Month Contract to start immediately.
Role Purpose:
To ensure that Food Safety & Quality activities within Independently Owned stores are effectively managed and coordinated across the business thereby ensuring that Retail Food Safety standards are best in class at all times. The role includes specific operational activities as well as long term strategic development projects.
Leading and supporting Retail Food Safety initiatives at store level.
Area of Responsibility: Management of Retail Food Safety
1. Tracking ongoing Retail Food Safety Audit performance across SuperValu and Centra and Mace Branded stores.
2. Supporting stores in the development and implementation of a robust food safety management system and promoting Food Safety Culture.
3. Resolving audit issues & queries.
4. Liaison with 3rd party auditing body on scheduling matters.
5. Reporting performance against targets to Stakeholders.
6. Conduct scheduled and adhoc store visits / Food Safety Audits.
7. Support store in implementation of new food safety procedures or legislation changes.
8. Leading and supporting projects as required through the Food Safety & Quality - Retail, Consumer & Development Team.
9. Support of other team members across the Food Safety & Quality Team.
10. Working collaboratively across the Retail, Consumer, Development Team to support team projects and broader FSQ projects.
Area of Responsibility: Food Safety Communications
1. Providing Monthly and Quarterly updates to the Sales Teams on Food Safety Issues.
2. Active participation in compliance reviews.
3. Producing and Issuing Food Safety Materials / updates.
4. Scheduling Regional Food Safety Workshops.
5. Providing training to store colleagues on a 1-2-1 basis on Food Safety matters.
6. Review and update of the Retail Food Safety Standard and associated SOPS and auditing questions.
Area of Responsibility: Food Safety Development
1. Enhancing and improving Food Safety Training solutions.
2. Effective Rollout of Retail IT Food Safety Solutions, eg Kelsius.
3. Ensuring revamps and new Food Concepts are Food Safety Risk Assessed in advance of development and rollout.
4. Liaison with external partners on new concepts / developments / challenges in Retail Food Safety.
5. Development of Long Term Food Safety Standards as per 3 Year FSQ Strategy.
6. Liaison with MRPI and MWP on coordination of Food Safety Policies.
Area of Responsibility: Creating the Best Team
1. Managing Food Safety in coordination with the wider FS&Q team / retailers.
2. Participation in Food Safety & Quality team sessions at a group level.
3. Retail KPIs within the FS&Q targets are achieved consistently.
Knowledge and Experience:
1. Degree in Food Technology/Science.
2. Effective communication.
3. Adaptive to changing environmental conditions.
4. Logical, problem-solving approach to issues where required.
5. Full clean driving licence and access to a car.
6. Excellent written and communication skills.
7. Experience in working with Excel.
