You will have your own clinical patient workload. You should be able to work at least at the level of an ST3 EM junior doctor. You will therefore be expected to: Work semi-autonomously. Take succinct histories and examine all body systems. Formulate a logical differential and plan. Order appropriate investigations. Present cases succinctly and efficiently Seek advice appropriate for your level of competency and always before discharging a patient. Carry out a range of skills including but not limited to cannulation, blood gases, catheterisation, plastering. Assess patients in the resuscitation area under direct supervision of a senior doctor. Multi-task looking after several patients at one time. Prescribe medication across the whole spectrum of presentations. See an appropriate number of patients each shift. Communicate your decisions in writing and verbally to relevant staff. Work in a multi-disciplinary environment. You will be allocated 4 hours on average per week to non-clinical activity. You will need to keep a log of your nonclinical activity. This activity will include: Maintaining a RCEM portfolio. Personal reflections on patients seen. Personal CPD to stay up to date. Audit activity. Engaging in mandatory training Teaching other groups including trainee ACPs and medical students Meeting regularly with your clinical supervisor
