Job Description:
This role involves undertaking preventative work with service users to diminish safeguarding concerns, investigating concerns of significant harm, and making appropriate use of legislation to safeguard and promote the welfare of service users.
The Social Worker will provide services to individuals, their families, and carers by assessing and identifying needs and meeting them through direct therapeutic work, care planning, and management. The role requires integrating theoretical approaches with practice.
Managing a caseload, exercising complex decision-making, ensuring case work is appropriately planned, critically evaluated, and reviewed.
Engaging effectively with complex situations, including multi-agency input, family dynamics, multiple problems/disadvantages, and significant risk factors, while considering the public interest.
Ensuring appropriate care for service users, utilizing mainstream and specialist resources innovatively where appropriate. Accepting responsibility for and supervising service users receiving care services, with expert and robust case reviews.
Providing expert witness testimony and evidence to courts and relevant bodies, including presenting reports and applications for legal orders.
Working in partnership with other agencies and organizations to fulfill the provision of social work services, representing the organization’s perspective.
Maintaining contact with statutory and voluntary sector professionals for information exchange, judgment exercise, and influencing case planning and decision-making outcomes.
Contributing to multidisciplinary assessments, leading meetings when required, and participating in planning meetings and reviews, promoting information sharing.
Mentoring newly qualified and less experienced social workers, developing their expertise, and offering placements to social work students as a practice educator.
Managing a challenging workload independently, seeking support when necessary, and engaging in research and applying emerging best practices.
Participating in departmental training, developing new resources, working on specialist projects, and contributing to professional development or service planning groups.
Identifying learning needs and engaging in continuous professional development, including supervision and appraisal, in line with social work registration and HCPC standards.
Applying social work ethical principles and values to guide professional practice and decision-making, including partnership, consultation, and service user participation.
Maintaining accurate, concise, and purposeful records, producing high-quality assessments that manage higher levels of risk and complexity.
Acting in accordance with departmental priorities and policies, actively promoting equality and working anti-oppressively.
