As a Senior Plant Fitter, you will take a lead role in the servicing, maintenance, and repair of our extensive plant hire fleet, machinery, and construction equipment. Your expertise will ensure that all plant equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards. Key responsibilities include:
1. Act as the key point of contact for technical issues, communicating effectively with customers and team members to ensure clarity on technical matters and resolutions.
2. Lead the troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution of complex technical issues, providing effective and timely solutions to minimize downtime.
3. Proactive in problem solving, anticipate potential mechanical or operational issues, addressing them before they become critical to avoid downtime and ensure business continuity.
4. Maintain precise records of all maintenance activities, including parts used, work completed, and time spent on each task.
5. Oversee the performance of machinery, ensuring all equipment is operating at its best and in full compliance with relevant safety regulations.
6. Provide high-level customer service and technical support, offering guidance on maintenance and equipment care.
7. Manage a busy workload effectively, ensuring that multiple tasks and projects are completed on time without compromising quality.
8. Collaborate with other fitters and staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment, while mentoring junior team members.
9. Ensure adherence to all Health and Safety standards, including conducting routine safety checks, enforcing safe working practices, and escalating concerns to the supervisor or plant operations manager when necessary.
10. Play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of our operations, driving both the efficiency and safety of our plant machinery, and delivering exceptional service to our clients.
Are You the Right Person for This Role?
To be successful in this Senior Plant Fitter role, you will bring the following skills and experience:
1. A thorough understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, specifically related to heavy plant machinery.
2. Extensive experience diagnosing and troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical faults across a diverse range of equipment.
3. Proven industry experience working in the plant industry or a closely related field, with a strong track record in plant maintenance and repair.
4. Ability to take on the most challenging and technical service tasks with confidence and expertise.
5. Advanced Troubleshooting & Diagnostic Skills, identifying and resolving complex issues efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal machinery performance.
6. Ability to quickly assess situations, implement solutions, and ensure that technical issues are addressed in a timely manner.
7. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers and team members.
8. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships with customers and colleagues.

Relevant Qualifications:
1. Recognised qualifications or certifications in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical engineering (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, HND, or equivalent).
2. Additional technical qualifications related to heavy plant machinery or plant maintenance are highly desirable.
3. Previous experience working specifically with heavy plant machinery, ideally in a senior or supervisory capacity.
4. A full, clean driving license is preferred.
