About the role
We are looking for a highly skilled leader to take up a key position in the Council’s Economy and Regeneration Service.
The Corporate Manager – Planning Services role provides an exciting opportunity for someone to join our ambitious council at a pivotal time to:
1. drive further improvement in the planning service so that it becomes one of the better performing services in Wales
2. deliver corporate priorities by providing sound planning advice and support for major regeneration projects and investment in schools, care, leisure and infrastructure within the County
3. deliver new development plans and supporting guidance both locally and regionally, and to provide advice on new and emerging policy challenges
4. lead and motivate our teams to enjoy performing at a high level
The Corporate Manager will work with senior colleagues across the organisation to help deliver corporate objectives, reinforcing Ceredigion as a great place to live, work, invest in and visit. We want your expertise and innovation to be at the forefront of taking our services forward.
We’re looking for someone with an excellent history of service delivery and improvement, who is a great communicator and who can represent the council and work with partners, stakeholders, government and its agencies to support appropriate development and regeneration within the County.

Economy and Regeneration
We play a fundamental role in the delivery of the Council’s key Corporate Strategy objective that seeks to boost the economy of the County and the Mid Wales region. We are organised into three main sections: Economy, Planning and Property Services. Our primary functions include:
5. Growth and Enterprise: Supporting economic growth and regeneration locally and across the region; Growing Mid Wales; the Corporate Estate and Development Opportunities; Project Support; European and local funding; Food Centre Wales and supporting Agri-Food development; Tourism promotion and development; Tourist Information Centres; Coast and Countryside
6. Planning Services: Supporting growth through Planning and Building Control Services; Strategic and Local Land Use Planning Policy; Development Management; Building Control; and Land Searches.
7. Property Services: Supporting the Council’s programme through Project Management; Property and Building Maintenance; Facilities Management; Carbon Management; and the Efficient Use of Council Property.
