I am currently seeking an experienced Dispensing Optician to join a new and upcoming independent optician in the Warwickshire area. You will be a key part of the team and contribute to the day-to-day operations of the practice. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about eye care and wants to be a part of a new and exciting opticians that is in its growth period.
– Must have at a minimum experience of 5-years working in an optician. – Must have completed the Dispensing Optician Course and be GOC registered. – Must be able to dispense to all levels. – You will be able to work 5-days per week including Saturdays If you do not meet the above requirements, you application will not be taken further.
This optician will be a fully independent, eye care practice run by an Optometrist with years of experience in optics and partner who has a background in finance and is located in the Warwickshire area.
The owners take pride in delivering high-quality eye care services and excellent customer service to the local community. The practice will start with 1-test room and will be testing 5-6 days per week and will be looking to increase this to grow the business.
Working Hours: Monday to Saturday 8:45am to 5:45pm and is closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
As the Lead Dispensing Optician for a newly established independent optician, you will play a crucial role in shaping the Patient experience, operations, and success of the business. You will build and lead the dispensing team, ensuring high standards of care, while also contributing to business growth and local community engagement. Your expertise in dispensing eyewear and your passion for Patient service will be key to building a loyal patient base
Responsibilities of the Qualified Dispensing Optician
Leadership & Management
– Lead, train, and support a small team.
– Develop daily procedures and best practices.
– Uphold high-quality, personalized service standards.
– Track sales and performance to identify growth opportunities.
Patient Care
– Offer personalized advice on lenses and frames.
– Ensure exceptional patient service and satisfaction.
– Maintain professional relationships with patients, colleagues, and suppliers.
Clinical & Technical Expertise
– Interpret prescriptions accurately and advise on suitable lens options.
– Measure, fit, and dispense eyewear precisely.
– Use advanced optical technology for accurate fittings.
Regulatory Compliance
– Ensure compliance with GOC regulations and UK laws.
– Stay updated on industry standards and safety protocols.
– Maintain accurate, confidential patient records.
Stock & Product Management
– Manage stock levels and maintain a curated product range.
– Work with suppliers to select quality products.
– Keep the shop welcoming and professional.
Business Development & Community Engagement
– Promote the practice within the local community.
– Support marketing activities and recommend fitting product lines.
– Drive growth through referrals, events, and personalized service.
Tailored Patient Experience
– Deliver personalized service and advice, emphasizing independence.
– Build lasting relationships to create a loyal patient base.
Requirements of the Qualified Dispensing Optician
– GOC Registered: Must be registered with the General Optical Council as a qualified Dispensing Optician.
– Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience as a dispensing optician, with proven leadership and management experience.
– Patient Service: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on creating lasting relationships with Patients.
– Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of optical products, advanced dispensing techniques, lens option and familiarity with advanced optical technology and software.
– Entrepreneurial Spirit: Ability to contribute to business growth and engage with the local community to build the practice’s reputation.
– Practice Management: Experience working in an independent practice or a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities it presents
Compensation of the Qualified Dispensing Optician
There is a competitive salary of around £38,000 per annum
5 weeks holiday + Bank Holidays + plus an extra day for your birthday
Sociable hours – Monday to Saturday with a day off in the week, 08.45 am – 5.45 pm.
