Are you passionate, enthusiastic, reliable, responsive and committed to the development of young people from a refugee, asylum seeking and migrant background?
Dost Centre for Young Refugees and Migrants is now recruiting versatile Sessional Youth Worker/s to work in our popular, lively and fun Youth Programme. We work with disadvantaged young people, aged 13-19, from all over London and we aim to provide them with new skills, experiences, opportunities, activities and support in order to equip them to fully develop and reach their potential, whilst improving their physical and mental health. We see around 50-80 young people at each Youth Club session and work with 500-600 young people a year from over 50 different backgrounds.
This is your chance to work as part of an inclusive, diverse team of staff and volunteers, led by an experienced and dedicated Director. The young people you will be working with get a huge amount from the project and although they face challenges, Dost is an extremely rewarding place to work.
Our club runs twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays 6pm - 8pm (staff to work 5.45pm - 8.15pm)
Location: Newham Leisure Centre, E13 8SD
At Youth Club, we provide football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, badminton, pool and table tennis and we have coaches that lead on most of the sports.
We are looking for someone to cover both sessions; preferably one worker would cover both although this could be two different workers to cover one night each.
We are particularly interested in finding someone that can help lead the very popular football sessions. It would be beneficial if you are available to work more hours, to help plan and implement other sessions; for example project work and/or trips and residentials.
Rate of pay is £16 per hour and will rise to £17.60 per hour after a 6 month satisfactory period.
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible (from February 2025 onwards).
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We promote diversity and want a workforce that reflects the population of London and Dost.
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out on preferred candidates and you will be required to complete safeguarding training.
