Hilldale Housing Association is a small but ambitious organisation that grew up in the North West and now has a national presence across England and Wales.
We are part of the Change Housing Group that supports smaller organisations with key services including Finance and Asset Management. We are proud to provide homes to over 1,000 people and work with care providers to support them to live independently within their community.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Income Officer to join our team. This is an agile role, and you will have the option to work 3 days per week from home and 2 days from our office near Media City in Salford.
Responsibilities
As our Income Officer, you will play a key role within Hilldale and for our customers by ensuring that our rental and income collections are maximised, in line with our ambitions and targets. You will be tasked with delivering our processes to collect debt whilst preventing losses.
You will be a key member of our Income team, supporting customers and ensuring that Hilldale receives all its chargeable income. You will work with customers and their advocates to ensure they have access to all eligible income so they can pay their rent and service charges on time, including supporting with Housing Benefit applications and appeals.
You will be accountable for your own performance whilst collaborating with others to ensure timely actions are taken and we achieve top quartile performance. You will follow the processes for arrears prevention and income collections whilst influencing how we improve the service provision to our customers.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of income policy and process, have the ability to understand the workings of a charge and payment schedule, and have an understanding of the issues facing vulnerable members of the community, especially those with support needs.
Ideally, you are experienced in the prevention and collection of income from social housing customers and have an understanding of housing regulation, specifically within consumer standards, rent standards, housing benefit, and specialist supported housing legislation. Although not essential, this would be advantageous.
You should also have strong mathematical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong IT skills including Microsoft Excel.
