Over the course of 6 months you will be supported to complete your Care Certificate, undertake higher level care skills and on completion progress to a Band 3 Senior Health Care Assistant. Explore the pathways UHSussex offers you for career progression within the trust To assist patients to carry out personal care including meeting hygiene and continence needs, dressing and supporting patients with appearance whilst encouraging independence, as appropriate To assist with patient nutritional needs – eating, drinking, menu selection, meal delivery and special diets according to the individual patient’s needs To assist patients to mobilise where appropriate. Under the supervision of the qualified nurse or registered practitioner support patients undergoing clinical procedures ensuring their comfort and safety To assist in the maintenance of up to date, comprehensive and accurate records in accordance with current legal requirements To ensure that stock levels of linen, sterile supplies and stationery are maintained at all times in conjunction with the senior sister / ward receptionist. To maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business. To escort patients and families to other departments within the hospital as required To participate in maintaining standards of hygiene, cleanliness and infection control, reporting problems as appropriate and adhering to Trust policy.
