Summary We’re looking for an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join our Estate Management Team, working across South Wales. You’ll lead a strategic approach to managing a large and varied let portfolio. This encompasses residential, commercial, and agricultural properties which are occupied by our tenants, as well as holiday cottages. Principally working on historic and listed buildings, you’ll be able to help guide and prepare our let buildings to meet future challenges. Internally this role is known as Senior Let Estate Building Surveyor. This is a permanent, full time opportunity offering a salary of £50,000 What it's like to work here Reporting to the Senior Estate Manager, you’ll provide technical guidance to two building supervisors but there is no line management responsibility. Pivotal to your role will be preparing our let estate for the future, managing projects and ensuring high levels of maintenance quality and efficiency. The role offers an interesting variety of work, a good work life balance and the opportunity to principally be working on historic and listed buildings. As this role covers the South Wales region, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust office to your home. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week. What you'll be doing As the technical lead to the buildings team, you’ll be delivering high level planned and reactive maintenance. The role will also require you to manage a variety of diverse projects. This could be anything from a total refurbishment of a listed cottage to the remodelling of an entire farmstead. Who we're looking for We’d love to hear from you if you are: •qualified surveyor or architect (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent) •a high-level financial acumen and strong experience of managing large budgets •demonstrable interest in building surveying relating to heritage and conservation •robust knowledge of building conservation, including procurement, maintenance, repair, and asset and contract management •an understanding of relevant legislation and best practice •experienced in delivering projects in a multi-disciplinary environment The package The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart.
