This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the Social, Emotional and Mental Health Specialist Resource Base (SEMH SRB) team as we look to recruit a Family Learning Support Assistant.
In this role, you will promote engagement and offer support for families during their child’s placement at an SEMH Specialist Resource Base (SRB), under the direction of the Family Learning Coordinator. The role will involve travel to SEMH bases and to family homes, and therefore a driving licence is required.
The SEMH SRBs are small classes attached to mainstream primary schools that provide placements to support children with social, emotional, and mental health needs. There are nine SEMH SRBs located across Norfolk that provide high-quality individualised support for children who are experiencing difficulties accessing a mainstream school environment. The centres provide an enriched learning environment that engages the children while supporting them to gain self-confidence and build their self-esteem. Children attend the centres for up to four terms of support, with family engagement being vital to successful reintegration into their mainstream school.
The Family Learning Support Assistant is part of the SRB central team. The purpose of this role is to offer emotional and practical support to parents and carers to develop resilience and engagement in their child’s learning and placement at the centre. The Family Learning Team will establish and maintain relationships with parents and carers, achieved via regular contact throughout the week.
If you are skilled and experienced in building positive relationships with parents and carers, and you are passionate about supporting the inclusion of children in mainstream schools through this role, we would like to hear from you.
If you would like an informal discussion about this role before applying, please contact Family Learning Coordinator, Louise Bradley.
