This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst remaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.
Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role & Key Responsibilities
From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
In this post you will be responsible for delivering a high quality postal service to the Force ensuring the safe and secure transport of mail and parcels between Sussex Police sites. This will also include daily deliveries and collections of mail, forensic exhibits and uniform from Surrey Police HQ as well as various ad hoc courier requests.
You will manage incoming and outgoing mail for the Force from the mail-room at Sussex Police HQ.

Main responsibilities will include:
* To collect and deliver mail, parcels, supplies: including transportation of firearms, forensic science exhibits, PPE supplies and other transportable items or equipment.
* To provide a daily scheduled Force courier service delivering post and any other items to designated hubs across the Force area.
* To provide a daily scheduled Force courier service delivering post and any other items to Surrey Police Headquarters.
* To provide a daily scheduled centralised franking service for external Force mail.
* To provide a postal tracking service for important, urgent, high value or critical items.
* To provide a responsive ad hoc collection and delivery service on demand from requests sent to the Estates and Facilities Help-desk.
* To assist with general logistical support services, which may include out of force locations, as required.
* Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.

* Good communication skills (be able to talk at all levels).
* Good level of literacy Computer literate, including basic use of EXCEL
* Ability to work on own and be self motivated
* Physically fit and able to lift and carry
* Be methodical, logical and detail oriented.

* Well motivated, enthusiastic and well-organised
* Full driving license and ability to drive a large van
