An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the MSK/Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team at STSFT.
We are looking for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to work within our established and experienced Musculoskeletal/Orthopaedic service. The role will give the successful candidate an opportunity to rotate in key Orthopaedic/MSK clinical areas, including IP Orthopaedics, Outpatient Gymnasium - including work in specialist services and in other Outpatient MSK services.
The focus of this post is the clinical management of a varied caseload including acute post-surgical orthopaedic conditions, acute and chronic spinal conditions and inpatient elective/trauma patients. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with proven clinical expertise and advanced clinical reasoning skills to excel and help provide care to the local population.
Main duties of the job
With support from the Clinical Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of staff and the activity of patients to ensure a safe and high-quality service. You will be supported to provide expert assessment and person-centred treatment; applying a problem-solving approach and best practice defined by research and standards to clinical practice.

Job responsibilities
1. To work as an autonomous practitioner within a specialist team using specialist clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to an independently managed caseload which will incorporate routine and complex presentation of conditions.
2. To begin to develop specialist skills to take a lead role in clinical practice issues, raising the profile of the service and offering specialist advice to planning and service development teams to assist in the implementation of service improvements.
3. To consolidate post-graduate skills and continue professional development, including participation in physiotherapy in-service training programmes and external postgraduate training.
4. To develop the clinical education of staff within the specialism and be responsible for the supervision of unqualified and newly qualified Physiotherapists who work under your direct supervision.
5. Participate in research, service development and/or quality improvement activities.

* Evidence of post-graduate competence, knowledge and skills in Orthopaedics/MSK.
* An understanding of South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation Trust, its culture, strategic direction, achievements and NHS standing.
* A proactive ability to represent the profession and the Trust with positive enthusiasm.
* Commitment, motivation and adaptability.
* Good levels of general fitness.

Experience
* Comprehensive experience at undergraduate and post-graduate level in Orthopaedics/MSK.
* Post-graduate experience in Orthopaedics/MSK.
* Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills with complex patient presentations.
