Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineer to join our dynamic company.

The Role
As a Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineer at GD Drilling, you’ll play a key role in the operations of a drilling contractor. From day one, you’ll be hands-on and collaborate with colleagues to assess and unlock development sites across the country. You will have the chance to contribute to exciting, impactful projects while building your skills in a family-run company.
Key duties will include:
• Supervision and conducting site investigations across Scotland
• Assisting colleagues and supervising various drilling rigs (Rotary/CP/WS) on-site
• Service clearance and setting out
• Trial pitting, logging soils and rock core according to British Standards
• Monitoring gas and groundwater levels
• Soakaway testing and In-Situ testing
• Conducting groundwater sampling
• Preparing factual reports
• Estimating fees for projects
The Right Fit
We are looking for someone who:
• Holds a full driving license and is willing to travel and work outdoors
• Has a relevant degree (e.g., Earth Sciences, Geology, Civil Engineering, or similar)
• Has experience working on active sites
• Is familiar with BS 5930, BS 10175, and related guidance
• Has 2–5 years of experience (although candidates with more or less experience will be considered)
Preferred qualifications:
• Membership with a professional organisation (e.g., Geological Society of London) or plans to join
• Experience with ground gas measurements and obtaining groundwater levels
• Holds a CSCS card
Working Arrangement
This is a hybrid role, combining remote work with time spent at GD Drilling’s premises and on-site with the opportunity to work from home, depending on project needs. Training will be provided as necessary.
Salary and Benefits
• Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 (depending on experience)
