The Gynaecology Directorate are seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join the Directorate Leadership Team as we develop and grow our acute and elective services. The Lead Nurse for Gynaecology will have commitment to excellence, passion for their service, clear vision and strategic focus and be trustworthy, respectful and approachable, demonstrating a commitment to coaching and developing staff.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of this role include, but are not limited to:
1. Professional nurse leadership, leading a team of Gynaecology Nurses and Specialist Nurses, ensuring the team are supported and receive professional and personal development opportunities, reducing barriers to effective clinical care.
2. Promoting and maintaining standards of care and with a supportive, caring culture.
3. Supporting operational and strategic development of the service.
4. Supporting the triumvirate team with the governance agenda, improving safety, and reducing risk; ensuring governance trajectories are adhered to.
5. Ensuring safe patient staffing, managing and mitigating risk.
6. Developing own knowledge and skills.
7. Ensuring the service meets Organisational trajectories for mandatory training and My Time compliance.

You will be supported in the role by the triumvirate leadership team of the Assistant Director of Nursing, Directorate Manager, and Clinical Director, along with support from the wider families Divisional Team.
This role involves cross site working within the NCA/with partner agencies.
Job responsibilities
Main Job Description
To provide professional leadership for nursing ensuring that safe and effective quality of care is delivered within the resources available while ensuring that the care environment is organised to meet the needs of the patient enhancing their experience and supporting staff to meet the Divisional and Organisational objectives through:
1. The provision of visible, professional leadership support and direction for nursing and by ensuring standards of practice and care are set and maintained.
2. Ensuring that safe, high quality clinical services are delivered in line with national policy, Organisational priorities, available evidence and patient care needs.
3. Lead programmes of improvement work related to patient safety support the delivery of the Divisional and Directorate clinical governance priorities and associated work programmes.
4. Work with Directorate Teams to optimise patient experience and outcomes of care through service and workforce efficiency, productivity and effectiveness.
This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.
The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
Person Specification
Experience
1. Current NMC Registration
2. Experience including experience at a senior level in nursing / midwifery
3. Understanding, or previous experience of working in Gynaecology
4. Understanding of operational management within the acute setting
5. Change management
6. Preparation of business cases including tender applications
7. Delivery of NHS targets
8. Performance management Methodology
9. Evidence of extensive expert professional knowledge supplemented by post reg. specialist managerial /leadership training and CPD
Education
1. Health related degree (Nursing)
2. Post basic qualification in management / leadership.
