We have an incredible opportunity to join the dynamic and proactive Corporate Affairs Team at Southern Water. As Strategic Water Resources Engagement Officer, you will help champion our major water resources projects. These include water recycling, which aims to create a new source of water to supply homes and businesses across our region – reducing the need to take water from the environment. Your responsibilities will include working with colleagues to develop and deliver the overarching engagement strategy and producing materials for engagement with regulators, stakeholders, media, customers and colleagues for these major projects. Key Responsibilities: - Support the creation and execution of an engagement plan for this high-profile initiative across all live projects and coordinate cross-functional workgroups to deliver against the plan. - Engage proactively and reactively with key stakeholders and senior colleagues at county, regional and, at times, national levels. - Collaborate with the wider Corporate Affairs Team to produce consistent, evidence-based, timely and audience-appropriate messaging. - Support colleagues across the business in delivering effective and tactical engagement with a wide range of stakeholders. - Contribute to securing public acceptance for water recycling projects that ultimately leads to planning approvals. - Flexibility to work out-of-hours, including evenings and weekends, is required, as is a valid driver's license and access to a car. We are looking for someone who ideally has journalism and/or stakeholder engagement experience as well as a strong passion for environmental issues and making a difference. The ideal candidate will be a highly-motivated and confident strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment. They will possess the ability to work independently, driving forward work plans to achieve positive results. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with keen attention to detail and a creative approach to problem-solving.
