Role: Bid Manager
Location: Birmingham Business Park
Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 + car allowance + package
Duration: Permanent / Hybrid
The Opportunity:
To lead on bids, predominantly in the West Midlands, taking responsibility for the projects from inception (PQQ or project identification) to preferred contractor and/or starting on site.
Bid Manager Duties:
Reporting to the Regional Preconstruction Director to ensure all work winning and preconstruction requirements are met across the Midlands region.
Liaise with the Regional Managing Estimator to ensure timeframes are achieved for the technical and commercial elements of bids.
Take the lead on tenders with the client's representatives establishing win strategies and key client drivers for selection.
Lead in tender bid settlements together with the appropriate grade of director personnel who can sign off bids.
Manage a bid team based within the regional business unit liaising with the construction delivery teams prior to commencing on site.
Liaise with design managers or lead the preconstruction design process depending on the project size and complexity.
Liaising with other teams - Bid and Preconstruction Managers, Business Development Manager; Managing Estimator & Estimating team; Construction delivery teams; Design Managers; Planning Manager; Head office framework functions.
Lead bids and take responsibility for - client liaison during bid; technical bid submissions; lead bid settlement meetings with appropriate director.
Bid Manager Person specification
The ability to develop and implement a winning bid strategy in line with the company's business plan.
Good technical construction experience from either a design management, commercial or operational background
Good commercial acumen to support the implementation of the work winning strategy.
Demonstrable bid writing/ submissions skills.
Demonstrable planning skills with the ability to work alongside our planner team to produce high quality tender, preconstruction, and construction programmes.
Ideally able to demonstrate experience with similar peer group contractor from the local area.
Personable with excellent communication skills.
Able to think quickly on their feet and adapt to situation.
Good written English skills and highly numerate.
Team player; Winning mentality.
Engineering/ Construction Management background.
ICIOB (or equivalent) or BSc Hons in construction related subject (Desirable).
Safety training - SMSTS (Desirable).
