The PepsiCo Life Sciences department is central to the Company’s future and instrumental in innovation, communications, and strategic partnerships. The Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI), part of the PepsiCo Life Sciences department, was founded in 1985. GSSI’s mission is to help athletes optimize their health and performance through research and education in hydration and nutrition science. As a member of the GSSI international team, the incumbent of this Scientist role will be involved in supporting GSSI’s global education, service, research and innovation initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Partner with the Gatorade global team to align with global programs and priorities.
* Translating scientific research to create and/or support education and service provision for priority partners.
* Developing research ideas to advance understanding of ingredients and/or products for application with sports and fitness athletes.
* Cross-functional collaboration with Life Sciences, marketing, product development, regulatory, scientific affairs, and legal functions in support of the global Gatorade business objectives.
* Partnering/supporting the wider GSSI team (US and Internationally based colleagues) on research, innovation, service, and education initiatives.
Qualifications
* Masters (MSc) required in Exercise Physiology/Kinesiology/Sports Nutrition or related discipline.
* Two or more years of experience working in the field of sports nutrition and/or sports science.
* Clinical research experience (1+ peer reviewed publication, preferable).
* Demonstrable knowledge in the areas of sports nutrition and exercise physiology.
* Demonstrable experience in the translation and application of sport science and sports nutrition into real-world settings, preferably within traditional sporting environments.
* Must have a proactive work style, able to multitask, and be flexible to work in a high-performance and ever-changing environment.
* Excellent collaboration skills with focus on innovation, solutions, and managing (and nurturing) cross-functional relationships.
* Self-starter with good interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with various personalities and work styles.
* Flexibility and willingness for occasional domestic and international travel (approximately 5-10%) to attend service engagements with Gatorade partner clubs/athletes, scientific conferences and visit/collaborate with colleagues at GSSI satellite laboratories and for other GSSI or PepsiCo Life Science meetings.
