Role Overview: NED Non Executive Director required by a manufacturing and trading business in the West Midlands. The NED Non Executive Director will help shape growth tactics, strategic thinking and contribute to corporate governance. This role will suit an established independent NED with a background in production operations and manufacturing in an SME. The ideal background will include having reached Managing Director, Operations Director or Executive Director in a manufacturing SME (£30m-£150m), with experience in supplying to hospitality refurbishment, food retail or electro-mechanical equipment sectors.
Responsibilities:
1. Balancing growth-risk with growth-stretch.
2. Guide strategic planning (1yr, 3yr, 5yr, 10yr rolling).
3. Influence tactical thinking around order book diversity.
4. Assess and manage risks, working with the board to develop mitigation strategies that safeguard the business’s future.
5. Review financial reports, budgets, and investment strategies, ensuring financial sustainability and prudent fiscal management.
6. Oversee governance policies, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks while promoting transparency and accountability.
The NED Non Executive Director will join a collaborative Executive Board. The position suits an established NED that is comfortable actively participating in board meetings, contributing to diverse decision-making processes and driving collaborative discussions.
Key Skills and Experience:
1. Proven experience in a senior leadership or NED non executive role at main board level.
2. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide visionary leadership.
3. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within both the board and the broader organisation.
4. Strong strategic thinking with the ability to drive both brand and business strategy.
5. Experience interpreting and providing insight into financial reports and strategies, and experience in governance, strategic planning, financial management.
6. A clear understanding of the manufacturing sector, particularly within the SME space.
This is a Non-Executive Director role, needing a collaborative and participative perspective to guide the business. The proposed term for this Non-Executive Director post is three years, two days a month.
