We are looking to recruit a Registered and experienced Vet Nurse to join our Nursing team. We are a busy mixed practice, and you will be involved in first opinion and referral work. You will be joining a team of 10 nurses, students and nursing assistants, and work on a rota system across two locations: first opinion and referral. As we are a training practice, you will have the opportunity to share your skills while ensuring we are providing the best nursing care for our patients. Our nurse clinics are also very popular and give you the chance to see the same pets and owners several times throughout the year.

We are continually investing to improve our equipment and facilities, having recently acquired a small animal referral business, and we are currently building additional small animal surgery rooms. The Location
The practice is based in Aberystwyth on the beautiful west Wales coast. Surrounded by glorious mountains and farmland, it is the perfect base for outdoor activities, both on land and sea. Aberystwyth is a vibrant, cosmopolitan town; it has a university, is home to the National Library, and has its own comedy festival and a busy Arts Centre.
The Role
We are looking for a full-time team member (7.5-hour days) working in shifts to cover 8am to 6:30pm. We will consider part-time applicants who can work a minimum of 3 days. Saturday mornings working (9 to 12) is also required. This is on a shared rota with time off the following week.
The RVNs work
* Admitting patients for procedures
* Running the day in the prep room (e.g., sequencing operations, overseeing prep of animals, monitoring anaesthetics, overseeing kennels & cattery, ensuring cleaning is done)
* Take charge of the In House Lab
* Working on the longer, more complex referral procedures
* Hosting Nurse clinics and discharge appointments
* Help train our team of student nurses and ANAs
Successful Candidate
* Must possess a valid Veterinary Nurse (RCVS) certification
* 3+ years’ experience as a Veterinary Nurse preferred but less experienced RVNs welcome to apply
* Strong communication skills and able to earn respect from clients
* Team player
* Able to show initiative and to prioritise
* Resilience and personal maturity
The Package
* Salary range is £28,000 to £31,000 depending on experience (Salary reviews are in April)
