About The Role:
As an SEN Teacher, you will deliver individualised and structured learning programmes tailored to each student's needs. You will work in collaboration with a skilled multidisciplinary team, ensuring that pupils receive the appropriate academic and emotional support to thrive.
Responsibilities of SEN Teacher:
* Design and deliver tailored lessons that align with individual learning plans, considering a range of learning styles and needs.
* Create an engaging and stimulating classroom environment that encourages confidence and participation.
* Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and external agencies to provide a cohesive support network for pupils.
* Implement specialist teaching strategies such as visual supports, sensory integration techniques and structured learning interventions.
* Promote positive behaviour management techniques that support students in developing emotional regulation and social skills.
* Regularly assess and monitor student progress, adapting teaching strategies to ensure continued development.
* Foster strong relationships with parents and caregivers, ensuring they are actively involved in their child’s learning journey.
The successful candidate will:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a focus on SEN (or willingness to undertake further training).
* Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs in a school or specialist setting.
* Experience working with pupils with a range of SEN needs, including ASD, SEMH and speech and language difficulties.
* A sound understanding of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and how to implement them effectively.
* Knowledge of SEN strategies, alternative communication methods and British educational curriculum is desirable.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, parents and external professionals.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
