Fixed term until 01 October 2031
An opportunity is available for a postdoctoral researcher to work with Dr. Tanmay Bharat to apply high-resolution electron cryotomography methods to study P. aeruginosa biofilm in vitro as well as in physiologically relevant disease settings (such as patient biopsies).
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will thrive in a collaborative, vibrant, friendly, and supportive atmosphere. In addition to applying the latest generation FIB milling and tomography techniques, this project will provide opportunities to learn subtomogram averaging, as well as cutting-edge microbiology, vital microscopy, and cell biology techniques. We have a fleet of high-end machines (TEMs / FIB-SEMs / cryo-LMs / HPFs) available for the successful candidate to use for this project. Candidates who have used a Zeiss Crossbeam, or TFS Arctis/Aquilos and/or TFS Titan Krioses could skip a lot of the training.
You should have a PhD in a relevant subject, or equivalent degree, and a strong desire to uncover fundamental biological principles. The position would suit an individual with an extensive background in structural biology or cell biology and keen biological/biomedical interests. Experience with cryoEM, cryoET, or FIB milling would be particularly advantageous.
