Job Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Edinburgh, Midlothian
A Registered Nurse (RN) is a qualified healthcare professional responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients in various settings such as hospitals, care homes, clinics, and community health environments. RNs assess patients' needs, develop care plans, and implement interventions to improve or maintain health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care
o Administer medications, injections, and treatments as prescribed by doctors.
o Monitor patients’ health, including vital signs, symptoms, and progress.
o Provide wound care and manage medical equipment like catheters or IVs.
2. Assessment and Planning
o Conduct patient assessments and create personalized care plans.
o Identify changes in patients’ conditions and update care plans accordingly.
3. Education and Support
o Educate patients and their families about conditions, treatments, and self-care.
o Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families.
4. Collaboration and Supervision
o Work closely with doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
o Supervise and mentor junior staff, including Healthcare Assistants and Student Nurses.
5. Record Keeping
o Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
o Document observations, treatments, and responses to interventions.
6. Compliance and Safety
o Follow infection control procedures and ensure a safe environment for patients.
o Adhere to ethical, legal, and regulatory guidelines, including safeguarding policies.

Qualifications and Training

* Desirable:
o Specialized training in areas such as geriatrics, pediatrics, or mental health
o Advanced life support (ALS) certification
Working Hours
* Typically work in shifts, which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
