An exciting opportunity has arisen for a one-year Junior Clinical Fellow training post in the Diagnostic Directorate working in Radiology and experiencing many interesting areas of Imaging, working alongside and being trained by a group of expert consultant radiologists here at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
There would be opportunities to expand your horizons by looking to include options such as Breast, Chest, Oncology, GI/GU imaging, Paediatrics, US and fluoroscopic non-vascular interventions and, whilst not essential, any previous experience in a sub-speciality area would be welcomed and encouraged.
You should be a radiology trainee or have at least 3 years of Radiology training.
Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council.
The successful candidate will provide General Radiology services and be expected to work across the two main hospital sites at Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital, as well as be called upon to work at our local Healthport.
You will be expected to provide a proportion of service which primarily involves Uss and Plain film reporting. Cross sectional lists may be supervised or independent depending on experience and also be part of the middle grade on-call.
You will help support the Diagnostic Directorate provide Imaging services for Lancashire and South Cumbria at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.
We are a dynamic department constantly trying to improve our services and you will have opportunities to participate in service review and development projects.
The Radiology service is managed within the Clinical Directorate structure.
The Radiology Directorate comprises Radiology, Neuroradiology, Ultrasound, Vascular (general) Interventional Radiology, Chest Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, including SPECT scanning and Oncological Radiology.
The diagnostic department is well equipped, with a range of modern imaging equipment across two sites, with four multislice CT scanners. Mammography is performed at CDH [Chorley District Hospital].
Further facilities include a modern bi-planar neuro-interventional suite and two interventional cardiology suites, three 1.5T MRI scanners and a specialised extremity MRI scanner. There is also a well-developed nuclear medicine department on site, with two gamma cameras.
There is a trust wide GE PACS. PET-CT is provided on site via a partnership with Alliance Medical Ltd.
Additional services including U/S, MR/CT scanning are also performed at our newly opened Healthport.
The Directorate actively supports undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. Undergraduate medical student teaching commenced here in 2003 and is expanding all the time. The trust has well developed links with Universities of Manchester and Central Lancashire
