Working remotely as a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor (HLA) on ABL's Central Online Weight Management Service, you will support, motivate, and advise adults and/or families who are overweight or obese. You'll play a vital role in helping people start the life-changing processes necessary for sustainable weight loss and long-term wellbeing with a particular focus on promoting physical activity as a key component of healthy lifestyle change.
Main duties of the job
We're looking for a passionate and motivated individual to deliver ABL Health's adult and family weight management programmes through online group sessions and one-to-one support. This role involves delivering evidence-based education on physical activity, nutrition, and behaviour change, while supporting clients with tailored care plans in collaboration with GPs and psychotherapists. You'll be responsible for monitoring client progress, delivering specialist interventions (including pharmacological groups), contributing to service development, and supporting community engagement and recruitment. The ideal candidate will use a client-centred approach, apply motivational interviewing techniques, and have the flexibility to work remotely and travel as needed.

You will play a vital role in helping people start the life-changing processes necessary for sustainable weight loss and long-term wellbeing with a particular focus on promoting physical activity as a key component of healthy lifestyle change.
You will be joining a large, experienced, and passionate team of behaviour change specialists at ABL Health, including Healthy Lifestyle Advisors, nutritionists, dietitians, GPs, psychotherapists, and exercise specialists. Together, we deliver evidence-based, realistic, and holistic weight management programmes designed to support communities across the region.
You will understand the diverse challenges and barriers adults face relating to both physical and mental health, and you'll be able to build strong rapport with clients from a wide range of backgrounds. As a remote member of the team, you will use a variety of digital platforms to engage clients and deliver effective, impactful support from a distance.
You will deliver our existing programmes of weight management as well as supporting the development of new nutrition and exercise programmes that meet the needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering motivational change which is client-centered. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, public health, community health or adult and/or family weight management and be an excellent team player and have a willingness to learn and develop.
At ABL Health we don't believe in diets but promote long term sustainable change which focuses on evidence-based principles of healthy living.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Deliver ABL Health's adult and family weight management programmes through online group sessions and one-to-one support, with a strong emphasis on physical activity alongside nutrition and behaviour change.
2. Lead and contribute to multi-disciplinary assessments, working closely with GPs and psychotherapists to create tailored, person-centred care plans.
3. Deliver evidence-based education around physical activity, nutrition, and behavioural change, aligned with ABL's programme curriculums.
4. Deliver programmes with a client-centred approach using skills of positive psychology and motivational interviewing.
5. Monitor clients' progress through regular consultation and with the use of Microsoft Excel, identifying specific treatment for those not on track to achieve their goals.
6. Assess and support eligible clients in your caseload to receive a referral to tier 4 for bariatric surgery, remaining up to date with NICE guidance at all times.
7. Work with clients and stakeholders to co-produce in-session materials.
8. Contribute to the contract performance report by submitting regular case studies to the project lead.
9. Contribute to and support ABL Health's social media pages.
10. Contribute to training and support new staff and volunteers.
11. Working with individuals and groups using SMART goal setting.
12. Contribute to the development of and deliver on special nutrition pathways such as Low Carb, Healthy Fats and Time Restricted Eating.
13. Deliver pharmacological weight management specific groups such as Orlistat and Saxenda.
14. Develop and deliver live webinars relating to key nutrition trends and topics.
15. Keep detailed files, recording data accurately, ensuring all forms and other documentation is completed correctly.
16. Undertake and complete all mandatory and additional skills training as required.
17. Have a thorough understanding of ABL Health policies and procedures.
18. Engage and recruit potential clients at promotional and community events, where required.
19. Develop curriculum resources to be signed off by the service development team and utilised in projects.
20. Contribute to ongoing service development needs.
21. To attend and actively participate in team and wider company meetings, such as MDT and clinical supervision.
22. Maintain regular CPD in line with the AFN regulations, working towards full registration when appropriate.
23. Be able to organise own workload in order of priority and deadline dates, daily administration tasks and other work-related activities.
24. To demonstrate personal and professional development in line with the ethos of lifelong learning.
25. To work within the framework of clinical governance in order to maintain and improve patient care, quality and efficiency.
26. To be able to work from home within a space that promotes a peaceful and private environment.
27. To be able to travel flexibly across the project area.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experienced in delivering behaviour change and health promotion.
* Skilled at using digital platforms for remote support e.g. Zoom, MS Teams, CRM systems.
* A confident communicator, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload.
* Passionate about physical activity, nutrition, and community wellbeing.
* Flexible to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
* Able to work autonomously, while staying connected to the wider team.
Qualifications
* Qualified in fitness or exercise (e.g. Level 2/3 Personal Training, Exercise Referral, or similar).
