The Role: The Automation Centre (AC), established in 2022, is positioned within the Chief Technology Office (CTO) in the Home Offices Digital, Data and Technology Directorate (DDaT). We do this by simplifying clunky, outdated, and time-consuming manual practices through the identification of the appropriate technology and development of solutions which are delivered by our multi-disciplinary automation and AI squads. Responsibilities: As a Project Support Officer, you will gain valuable experience as part of a high performing team that provides essential programme/project support functions to the AC and wider Automation & Innovation (A&I) portfolio. As the AC ramps up delivery from FY25/26 and throughout the Spending Review period, your role is crucial in ensuring that the AC and wider A&I portfolio has the services and expertise it requires to hit its milestones and benefits targets. Working closely under the guidance of the G7 PMO Lead and with support from an HEO, you will contribute to the expansion of the AC PMOs current service offering by establishing stronger commercial and business management support to stakeholders. You will work closely with profession leads across the A&I while liaising with key contacts in the DDaT HO Commercial Team and CTO Business Management Team to address commercial and business management requirements. This includes seeking advice from HO experts on the correct procurement routes, ensuring requirements and progress of contracts, and on/offboarding critical resources. In addition, you will apply your programme/project skills to provide resiliency to the current PMO service offering by augmenting our capacity to deliver and improve our governance and risk, change management, reporting, and knowledge management processes. Skills & Experience: Proven track record of working in medium-to-complex public sector/government setting as a projects/programmes manager or PMO member, with substantial experience in goods and services procurement or contract management environment in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the government commercial function, Public Contracts Regulation 2015, Procurement Act 2023, and working with agencies/managed services in a digital setting Highly logical, process and detail-oriented, with advanced skills in standards setting, as well as improving and promoting systems, tools, and management of data to help inform decision-making on business spend and resource utilisation Proactive, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and identify blockages/issues and what is required to resolve them, in compliance with structured governance frameworks Significant experience in establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders Excellent communicator with the ability to identify gaps, and establish and enforce clear administrative processes, enabling the effective management of project/programme resources Strong knowledge of governance and risk management principles, with a proven ability to track, mitigate, and report risks effectively Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management tools About us: At Peregrine, we see beyond the immediate and look to the horizon.
