We're looking for a Tax Manager to join our Group Finance Accounting team, on a full-time permanent basis. You will take the lead on the Group's tax compliance in support of the Financial Controller and have ownership of the Group Finance processes, documentation, and controls to ensure that a robust and efficient controls framework is in place. You will drive efficiencies and improvements in the Group to optimise external tax reporting. This is a hybrid role, with the requirement to work 2 days from our office in High Wycombe.
Main duties of the job
1. Perform tax planning, review current structure of corporation tax returns and develop methods to optimise it.
2. Day-to-day ownership of the Group's tax compliance and reporting activities across direct tax (corporation tax), indirect tax (VAT) and other applicable taxes.
3. Lead on the development of the controls framework within the group for SAO compliance, monitoring compliance for SAO effectiveness, establishing best-in-class processes and controls.
4. Provide clear, accurate, and timely financial reporting, ensuring external tax reporting compliance, through preparation and ownership of the Group Finance & Tax Manual, ensuring it is accurate and up-to-date.
5. Participate in direct tax and indirect tax planning and strategic initiatives to ensure eradication of inefficiencies.
6. In-house preparation of draft CT computations and disclosures for statutory accounts under relevant accounting standards, including accurate tax provisioning and deferred tax calculations.
7. Liaise with external tax advisors to ensure timely, effective, and efficient tax return filings.
8. Responsible for accounting for income taxes, review of tax journals to support monthly reporting, statutory reporting, and reconciliation to final CT submission.
9. Review capital spend for eligible expenditure to support capital allowance claims and R&D relief.
10. Review reports and analysis prepared by Tax Accountant to meet VAT QIPS submission and payments on a timely basis, including review process of quarterly submissions for Group FD and CFO.
11. Embed PX Cube (VAT Reporting tool) to understand our VAT trends, details, and aid submission review.
12. Support the Tax Accountant with reconciliation and review of HMRC MSS data and monthly PIVA statements and work with the Capital Projects team to monitor checklist compliance for customs documentation.
13. Complete annual compliance requirements ERSS.
14. Facilitate the development of junior members of the Group Finance Team by providing coaching and delegation.
About you:
* Proven ability to communicate effectively & build relationships at all levels.
* Excellent analytical skills, proven level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding and enthusiasm about the business.
* Computer literate (MS Office) especially Excel, confident with vlookups/pivot tables.
* High standard of written and spoken English.
* Newly qualified or up to 1 year PQE for a professional tax qualification (CTA).
* Experience of IFRS highly desirable.
