Our client, a prominent player in the marine industry, is currently seeking a Team Lead - Electrical Engineering to join their Naval Engineering department. This permanent position is based in Gateshead, United Kingdom, with a hybrid working arrangement available. This role is pivotal in leading a dynamic team and delivering innovative and sustainable electrical engineering solutions for Naval Handling products.
Key Responsibilities:
Overall leadership and management of the electrical engineering team based in the UK and Europe.
Ensuring the team has the appropriate people, processes, and tools to execute its projects effectively.
Estimating and delivering electrical engineering scope for projects, including OEM engineering design, in-service support, R&D, and new sales opportunities.
Managing project budgets, resources, and schedules for all electrical engineering scopes.
Monitoring and analysing project performance metrics and implementing improvements where necessary.
Collaborating with clients and internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
Building and mentoring a high-performing team while fostering professional development.
Promoting an innovation culture within the team to maintain cutting-edge naval technology.
Developing electrical engineering solutions that meet customer requirements.
Providing technical guidance to suppliers, internal departments, and customers, and approving factory tests and inspections.
Managing supplier interfaces and providing technical assistance/approval to suppliers.
Checking the technical work of others and offering guidance to colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
Chartered Engineer status preferred.
Proven engineering leadership experience relevant to this role.
Extensive experience in electrical engineering relevant to this role.
Experience working in a highly regulated industry.
Excellent project management and leadership abilities.
Proven ability to design and prepare detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and cable schedules.
Proficiency in electrical engineering software and tools relevant to the marine industry.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent people skills and both verbal and written communication abilities.
