We’re currently recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a well-established specialist school in Paignton. This independent co-educational school caters to a small number of students aged 7 - 18, providing high quality, personalised learning in a safe, structured environment. The school supports students facing SEMH challenges that may have created barriers in traditional educational settings.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in both classroom and pastoral support. Working closely with teachers and senior staff, you’ll help foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere where students can build confidence, engage in learning and achieve their goals.
You’ll support learners individually and in small groups, adapting resources and activities to suit their needs and help manage classroom dynamics in a calm and constructive way.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide day-to-day support to students with SEMH needs
* Assist with planning and delivery of classroom activities
* Offer 1:1 or 2:1 support for pupils who need additional guidance
* Promote student engagement, independence and emotional wellbeing
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff to deliver personalised learning strategies
* Use positive behaviour strategies to maintain a supportive learning environment
