Long-term Teachers is seeking SEN Supply Teachers to work in specialist and mainstream schools. We welcome applications from qualified and unqualified teachers, as well as those with experience in SEN support roles.
About the Role:
As a SEN Supply Teacher, you’ll play a key role in providing high-quality education and support to students with diverse learning needs. This flexible role allows you to work on a short-term or long-term basis, adapting to different school settings and student requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEN - these will be pre-planned by the regular class teacher
* Support students with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and complex needs
* Use strategies such as phonics-based learning (Read Write Inc, experience beneficial) to support literacy development
* Foster a safe and positive learning environment, managing classroom behaviour effectively
* Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure the best outcomes for students
* Adapt lesson plans and resources to meet individual student needs
* Implement safeguarding policies and follow school procedures
What We’re Looking For:
* A passion for working with children with special educational needs
* Teaching experience (QTS is desirable but not essential - unqualified teachers with relevant experience are welcome to apply)
* Knowledge or experience with phonics-based learning would be beneficial
* Strong communication and adaptability skills
* The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
* Experience working in education, childcare or SEN support would be advantageous

Contract: Full time

Salary: Starting at £90 per day

Long-Term Teachers is supporting a fantastic special educational needs school, based in Dawlish, providing outstanding education and care for 200 students aged 3-19. As a learning support assistant, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing young learners who have additional needs such as communication and interaction difficulties, learning needs and autism.
We have multiple roles available across their primary cohort - you will be placed according to your strengths, experiences and areas of expertise!
Our client is looking for an individual who is engaging, enthusiastic and willing to get ‘stuck in’. You must have a proactive approach and be willing to engage with the students. Your role will be key in helping the students achieve their full potential, promoting a positive and nurturing learning environment.
Key responsibilities:
* Provide tailored support to students
* Assist in implementing personalised learning strategies and interventions
* Help create a safe and engaging learning environment that supports both academic and personal development
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other staff to support each student’s unique needs
* Encourage student independence and confidence through structured activities and guidance
The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 or small group setting
* A patient, compassionate and proactive attitude
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both students and staff
* The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations
* Relevant qualifications such as a level 2 or 3 teaching assistant certificate is desirable but not essential
