We are looking for four Contract Lead’s to join our recently formed Commercial Management team, with one role based within each of our four licence areas of South Wales, South West, East Midlands and West Midlands. Reporting to the Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the operational management and supplier relationships within the National Grid Electricity (NGED) Commercial Management function. Working closely with key delivery partners and internal NGED stakeholders across the business, you will primarily focus on maximising commercial performance and efficient delivery of key contracts. You will develop a deep knowledge of the stakeholder requirements and delivery partner needs, through networking, data and information analysis, and contractual understanding. As a Contract Lead you will also you will leverage this knowledge and understanding by supporting the management of key contracts to ensure safe, effective, and efficient supply chain works delivery. The role will involve approximately 2-4 days travel throughout your regional licence area to visit internal stakeholders, suppliers and attending sites with occasional travel to wider locations within the remaining three licence areas, for which a commercial vehicle will provided. A driving licence is therefore required for this role. As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Main Responsibilities Support the Commercial Manager in administration of strategic NGED contracts ensuring contractual commitments are upheld by both NGED and the supply chain. Provide support for performance management of strategic contracts, working closely with the business functions and the delivery partners to provide the Commercial Manager with key insights and improvement opportunities. Engage closely with operational teams and delivery partners to gather information to support dispute resolution to deliver the best overall outcome for NGED and our delivery partner relationships. Deliver compliance & audit activities for strategic contracts. Ranging from, data led, remote reviews, to on-site audit delivery partner activity. Development and delivery of training materials, guidance, and communication to support effective operational management of delivery partners and contracts. Help to drive the success of the commercial team, by collaborating closely with the Commercial Manager and team colleagues to establish a supportive, trusting, positively challenging, and continuous improvement mindset. The Ideal Candidate To be successful you will be able to demonstrate your experience of commercial/contract management, and/or procurement. Ideally you will have experience of electricity distribution network assets/activities, or the capability to build this knowledge in role. You will need to be initiative-taking, organised, and analytical in your approach, whilst possessing the excellent interpersonal skills needed to build strong professional trust-based partnerships with your internal stakeholders and delivery partners, able to identify and execute effective outcomes when resolving disputes or negotiating contractual change. Experience of street works, civils, or underground cabling works is desirable, but not essential. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check. Depending on the role, different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
