We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in the growth of our design and creative offering.
We are a creative production agency, trusted since 1884. Bringing together the best of our people and key partners to provide brand solutions, digital marketing, bespoke print, and distribution for many of the UK’s leading brands including Macmillan, Greencore, The Church of England, Macdonald Hotels, NHS England and The Scouts Association.
Our creative design studio is a strategically important part of our business and as such we want to drive further growth within that department. We are therefore seeking a motivated and results-driven individual to join our team as a Business Development Manager, specifically focused on our design and creative offering.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a significant part in expanding our UK-wide client base by seeking new opportunities for our branding, design, and marketing solutions. You can approach prospects with confidence as you will be backed by a passionate and multi-skilled creative team who have a long-standing reputation of delivering above and beyond when it comes to both quality and service.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development (primary function)
1. Identify and generate new sales opportunities across the UK, focusing on medium to large businesses, organisations and charities.
2. Research and engage with potential clients through cold prospecting and networking to build and manage an effective sales pipeline.
3. Secure meetings with prospects to pitch and sell our services using a consultative approach.
4. Develop tailored, compelling and commercially viable proposals to secure new business.
5. Work with our marketing team to support and follow up lead generation campaigns.
Account Management
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and repeat business to drive revenue growth.
2. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing enquiries, managing expectations, and fostering long-term partnerships.
3. Oversee the delivery of projects such as brand development, marketing campaigns, and more, working closely with internal and external contacts to ensure client requirements are met.
4. Monitor project timelines and budgets, ensuring that deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
Cross Selling
1. Engage with prospects and clients to find opportunities to promote our in-house print production facilities (litho, digital, and large format).
2. Understand and effectively demonstrate the benefits of our marketing automation software (Cross Media), which integrates email, print, and SMS into campaigns.
3. Promote and sell our web to print software (DSF), which provides bespoke design and print portals for brand management, enabling clients to order static and editable printed items.
4. Track and report on sales activities, pipeline progress, and revenue targets.
5. Collaborate with the senior team to refine sales strategies and contribute to business growth.
Skills & Experience
1. Proven experience in B2B business development, sales, or account management within the creative or design-led industry, selling on value not on price (3+ years).
2. A proactive, disciplined and results-oriented mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
3. Must be tenacious and determined, with the ability to effectively deal with objections.
4. Confident using all forms of communication to generate business opportunities, including in-person, telephone, social media, virtual meetings and email.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and negotiate with diverse clients at a senior level.
6. Strong presentation and pitching skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and confidently.
7. Effective at problem-solving, must be able to find solutions to meet evolving client needs, identifying opportunities to sell relevant services.
8. Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple high value projects simultaneously.
9. Knowledge of the creative design process, branding, campaigns and digital marketing is highly desirable.
10. Familiarity with marketing automation software, print portals, or similar technology is beneficial.
11. Have a strong and well-established network to bring to the role is a benefit.
