My client is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, with an established presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, they offer a diverse range of financial services, including commercial banking, leasing, securities, credit card, consumer finance and other services.
They are looking for a Project Finance/VP to join their Power & Renewables Team. The position is being offered with a contract to 1st May 2026 and will be based at their London office, hybrid working being office based a minimum of 3 days a week. You will be working Monday to Friday, standard office hours with the occasional need for out of hours work as required.
The role sits within the Power & Renewables team, reporting into a Director within the team. You will be providing support to Director level employees running transactions, both on project and corporate analysis and administration tasks and taking an element of lead on more straightforward transactions or parts of more complex ones. There is a customer facing element to the role, including gathering information and attending customer meetings with more senior colleagues, marketing and transaction execution. Internally, the role would interface with various other departments including portfolio management and Credit and to colleagues in Derivatives and Debt Capital Market and with other regions
Purpose of Job
* The role of VP exists to provide support and some lead roles in the execution of transactions as well as marketing activities and origination of new business.
* The role requires strong analytical and corporate credit skills and will involve the review and analysis of information including customer financial statements, corporate and project finance financial models, due diligence and legal documentation.
* The role requires experience and exposure to power & renewable project finance and acquisition finance
* The role also requires strong communication skills as there will be various interfaces both within the organisation (Senior Management, Credit, Syndications, Operations etc) as well as externally including some client facing dealing including marketing, deal execution, due diligence and KYC
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Support senior staff as part of deal teams in the marketing, origination of and execution of project finance and acquisition finance transactions, and take the lead on some transactions or parts of work streams of more complex transactions
* Perform project or corporate credit analysis, prepare credit applications and managing data input for GBR, EIC, PF Grading and other systems, and help to train and supervise more junior staff in that role.
* Liaise with all relevant departments within EMEA required for marketing and execution.
* As appropriate, financial modelling and analysis for projects in support of transaction lead and as part of an advisory team.
* Understanding the Bank’s internal procedures and processes and applying them correctly and in compliance with all rules and regulations
* Working on asset management, and other areas of ISD wider business as requested.
* To carry out marketing activities for Power & Renewables.
* Dealing with customers for origination of regulated products including telephone and face to face meetings
* Preparing externally facing marketing materials in line with the guidelines and seeking compliance approval
* Taking responsibility for a specific customer group (market, product region)
* Start to take on some team management responsibilities for more junior staff or by contributing to senior management initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Significant knowledge and experience of project finance theory, practice, risk analysis, credit, execution and documentation as well as corporate financial analysis within a Power & Renewables team.
* Strong numerical and financial skills essential and financial modelling experience required
* Some knowledge of PF customers and clients for marketing purposes and the ability to work with and understand customer needs. In addition to PF, experience and knowledge in structured products including acquisition finance, corporate finance and capital markets would be viewed favourably.
* Previous experience of working in project finance and/or corporate finance in a relevant institution (bank, advisor, industry etc), with a focus on corporate credit analysis and corporate credit skills.
* The ability to work on multiple tasks in parallel under pressure and to time constraints with significant changes
* The ability to work well with colleagues in multiple roles and at most levels of seniority across EMEA and other regions
* Education & Qualifications: Degree and multiple language skills would be viewed favourably
