We’re seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team at Capenhurst, where you’ll strengthen Urenco UK’s project delivery capabilities across the capital engineering project portfolio. In this role, you’ll lead and support the project management team in developing clear project definitions, schedules, budgets, and objectives for medium to large projects of moderate to high complexity. You’ll oversee the entire project lifecycle—from setup and initiation through implementation and closure—ensuring that business benefits are achieved and delivered.
What You’ll Do
1. Promote a Proactive Safety Culture
Lead by example in fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring this commitment is upheld across the Capenhurst site and the wider Urenco Group.
2. Strategic Development and Advisory
Provide insight, advice, and feedback to shape the Group’s Project Delivery Strategy, ensuring alignment with UUK’s objectives and the strategic direction of the capital portfolio.
3. End-to-End Project Delivery Responsibility
Hold full accountability for project delivery, meeting safety, scope, cost, schedule, and business benefit objectives. Clearly communicate strategies, objectives, and benefits to business units and across the Group, implementing organisational strategies to maximise business impact.
4. Build and Lead High-Performing Teams
Develop a high-performance team that integrates all sub-disciplines and functions seamlessly throughout the project lifecycle.
5. Strengthen Partnerships with Subcontractors and Vendors
Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors, advocating for Urenco’s interests to enhance collaboration and project outcomes.
6. Protect Urenco’s Commercial Interests
Ensure Urenco’s commercial position is protected through industry best practices in contracting strategies, supplier selection, procurement, contract negotiation, and contract management.
What You Need to Thrive in This Role
1. Project Management Qualifications
Accreditation in Project Management, such as APM or PMI.
2. Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience with full accountability and active leadership in EPC projects, either in a Project Manager or owner role. Proven track record managing complex, multi-contract, multi-discipline projects in a lead EPC or owner role.
3. On-Site Construction Experience
Practical experience in on-site construction environments.
4. Analytical and Strategic Planning Skills
Ability to analyse project requirements and key success factors, translating them into tailored delivery strategies.
5. Proven Strategic Execution
Demonstrable experience in developing and executing strategies that deliver projects in alignment with business objectives (safety, budget, cost, benefits).
6. Adaptability and Accountability
Skilled in managing ambiguity and confidently taking accountability for project delivery.
7. Expertise in Project Management Techniques
Solid understanding of leading project management methodologies and techniques, with a proven ability to lead project teams to successful outcomes with minimal supervision.
