Role: Learning Specialist
Role Brief:
Learning Specialist is responsible for providing learning support and differentiated teaching practices, ensuring that students with special needs receive the best possible education.
This includes working with teachers and parents, coordinating accommodations for exams, and supporting students' individual learning needs. The specialist also helps implement and monitor the school's Learning Support policy, collaborates with the leadership team, and stays updated with professional development.
Reports to: Head of School
Candidate Profile
* A seasoned educator with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
* Highly professional, with in-depth knowledge of learning support for students in Grades 9-12.
* Skilled in developing, customizing, and implementing a variety of assessment strategies, including portfolio assessments and conferences, to meet the diverse needs of students receiving learning support.
* An excellent communicator, capable of establishing positive relationships and rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
* Dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people and actively supporting the work of the safeguarding and pastoral teams within the school.
Qualifications and Skills:
Degree: A degree in special education, learning support, or a related field.
NPQ SENCO / NASENCO Qualification: The National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO) is required or highly desirable.
Experience: Proven experience in learning support, particularly with secondary school students.
Relevant Certifications: Additional certifications in special education or learning support may be preferred.
Knowledge: A strong understanding of effective learning support strategies and accommodations.
