Job Introduction
Business Support Services is looking for four talented full-time (37 hrs per week) Business Support Officers to work in the team contributing to the delivery of the statutory services of the Planning department.
You will need strong administrative skills and experience of working in an office environment, be a motivated individual confident using your initiative, and have an ability to prioritise competing workloads. Familiarity with Microsoft office software is essential, and your ability to be flexible, with strong people skills, is crucial to your success in the role. A keen attention to detail and the ability to interpret plans and documents is important to our business, and your team working experience is desirable, and while not a prerequisite, prior experience of working for a local authority is an advantage.
You will join a friendly and industrious team where you can expect to undertake the following duties:
1. Accessing, downloading, and preparing planning applications.
2. Validating and registering a range of planning and tree work applications, increasing in complexity as you progress.
3. Checking planning history and legislation.
4. Communicating by phone and email with a range of customers and stakeholders.
5. Charging applicants planning fees.
6. Contributing to the administration of planning committees and planning appeals.
7. Generating documents publicising applications.
8. Processing electronic consult representations.
9. Making the relevant final decision information available on the Council website.
10. Assisting the Support Team Leader in delivering any other work required of the service.
