This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station's vast network of rooms.
The role
As Area Health and Safety Lead you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance.
Day-to-day, you'll:
* Act as the first point of contact for the H&S Advisors
* Escalate issues that cannot be resolved or requires further support to the H&S / Discipline Leads.
* Oversee the HSE advisors K.P. I's and Support HSE Area Lead within accident/investigations..
* Conduct audits of MEH site activities and sub-contractor operations as well as facilitating meetings
* Record the findings of audit reports and inspections in line with the HSSE Management system requirements.
* Build relationships with other Tier 1's and the Principal Contractor
* Monitor the working practices of MEH employees and contractors regarding health and safety, environment and welfare.
This role is full time and is based onsite at Hinkley Point C
Essential experience of the Health and Safety Lead
* Significant, relevant construction experience
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills to explain HSE procedures and expectations to a range of people.
* Working knowledge of the Health and Safety regulations.
* IT literate - familiar with Microsoft packages
Qualifications for the Health and Safety Lead
* NEBOSH general certificate / NEBOSH construction certificate or equivalent.
* Health and Safety Diploma or working towards.
