St Mary’s Hospital, Newport, Isle of Wight
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Asthma & Allergy specialist nurse based at the David Hide Asthma & Allergy Centre (DHAAC), St Mary’s Hospital, IOW NHS Trust. The DHAAC has become internationally renowned for the excellence of its research, actively focusing on various aspects of childhood and adult asthma and other allergic diseases as well as the prevention of allergy. We are a well-established specialist service with a strong reputation locally and nationally as being innovative and responsive to the development of our service to meet our local population's health needs.
The role of an allergy specialist nurse is varied, and you would be expected to become involved in all aspects of delivering the large caseload of this service, including leading the outpatient clinics, supporting sublingual and subcutaneous immunotherapy clinics, managing a specialist asthma clinic, and providing a key role within the team for patients attending for food challenges. You will work collaboratively with all members of the allergy team to deliver effective, high quality, safe, patient-centred care in the allergy outpatients department.
Do you have respiratory knowledge and skills and an interest in specialising in Asthma and Allergy? Are you a paediatric nurse or already experienced in allergy services looking for a band 6 Clinical Nurse specialist role? We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible individual who is confident, able to multi-task effectively, prioritise workload, be a good team worker, and motivated in their learning and development. As well as recognising your valuable experience, training will be provided as part of this role to help expand your knowledge, and once competent you will be expected to work autonomously in our small friendly team.
Working for our Trust brings a variety of benefits, including an on-site day nursery, cycle-to-work scheme, discounts at local businesses and gyms, and the opportunity to hire the Trust's beach hut in Ryde. We offer many flexible working opportunities; speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement for you and if it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.
Our 2020-2025 strategy sets out to ensure that we continue to be a provider of excellent and compassionate care. As part of this strategy, we are proactively taking steps to ensure that we recruit and retain the highest quality of talent to provide CARE and we would welcome applications from under-represented groups to ensure our trust is an inclusive and diverse employer.
