We are seeking a substantive Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in Breast cancers to join our team at University Hospital Southampton. This is a full time (10.25 PAs) post with less than full-time options available.
You will work alongside the established breast cancer Clinical Oncology consultant and multidisciplinary team to provide radiotherapy +/- SACT services as part of a busy and dynamic department. A second disease site alongside breast cancer is outlined in the job description as skin cancer; other tumour sites combined with breast cancer will be considered and applicants are encouraged to make contact to discuss options.
The cancer centre provides comprehensive services to a large local and regional population, with seven linear accelerators providing radiotherapy services including SABR and SRS. Image-guided and surface-guided radiotherapy are implemented across all treatment units.

This post will be clinically responsible for the care of patients with breast cancer within UHS and across the wider region. The successful candidate with suitable training and enthusiasm would also have the opportunity to join the oligometastatic SABR service. Duties will include:
• Attending the weekly UHS Breast MDT and clinics
• Planning and supervising radiotherapy for Breast cancer patients
• Planning and supervising Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy for Breast cancer patients
• Engaging in Radiotherapy Peer review meetings
• Teaching and training specialist trainees in Clinical Oncology and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Actively engaging in the management of, recruitment in to and running of clinical trials
A second subspecialist disease site of skin cancer is described in the job description. The skin cancer elements of the post will support the existing team at UHS and across the wider region, including provision of radiotherapy for melanoma patients and radiotherapy and SACT for non-melanoma skin cancers.
The role includes participation in an on call rota for the management of Clinical Oncology patients out of hours, providing advice during evenings and undertaking daily ward rounds during weekends and Bank Holidays (1:20)
