Operational Technology Engineer AWE is recruiting for Operational Technology Engineers to work in our Operational Technology Team AWE is upgrading and replacing a wide range of facilities with unique requirements and challenges. Previous experience in an Operational Technology Engineering role or supporting OT equipment Experience of diagnosing faults on OT/PC based systems and installing/replacing hardware/software to resolve the issue Extensive experience working with SCADA and PLC / BMS / DCS systems and developing or modifying software A good knowledge of cyber security practices for OT systems Computer literate, with knowledge of industry standard packages such as TIA Portal, WinCC, Unity Pro, Aveva Solutions, RSLogix etc A good knowledge of software engineering techniques and design for maintenance principles Experience of configuration control of software on operational plant & equipment Functional Safety of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic, safety-related systems (IEC 61508 and IEC 61511) Design substantiation and in service assessment of OT equipment and systems Cyber security for industrial automation and control systems (IEC 62443) What will you be doing? As an Operational Technology Engineer y ou will be part of a specialist team within a multi-discipline service delivery function and will be responsible for providing expertise in disciplines such as software configuration, SMART instruments and disaster recovery, whilst considering cyber security aspects. Within this position you will: Use your OT experience as a subject matter expert to work with the OT team, with the business units and our new major infrastructure projects Witnessing demonstration of disaster recovery of programmable systems at manufacturers premises Create and review documentation to ensure that OT requirements are met Providing technical consultancy to maintainers, PP&E engineers, project managers and commissioning teams Develop, maintain and update Policies and Procedure for use within the team and wider areas Working across a range of plant, facilities and systems within the sites in both production and research environments in support of the UK nuclear deterrent Identifying technical issues, evaluating options and providing solutions within the bounds of individual technical competence, seeing tasks through to satisfactory conclusion Reviewing OT systems to ensure that an accurate configuration baseline is maintained, and suitable backups held We would be interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate knowledge or experience in the following: A Degree, HND/HNC or an equivalent vocational qualification, in an engineering discipline Experience of working with OT Systems Experience in preparing technical reports and documents Knowledge of software development process and version control Good written, verbal and presentation skills Experience/understanding of any of the following would be advantageous, but not essential as role specific training will be given: CEng, IEng or be working towards professional registration Membership or associate Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution Familiarity with British and ISO Standards Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) including configuration management and quality control A good understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSAWA), Construction Design Management (CDM), risk assessments, Electricity at Work Regulations (EWR) Experience of working in a highly regulated (e.g. Nuclear, Pharmaceutical, Oil and Gas) industry would be beneficial General Responsibilities of Operational Technology Engineers: Delivery of own agreed objectives / project deliverables Being directly responsible for engaging with stakeholders both across the company and external to progress tasks, ensuring compliance with safety, security and OT standards Contribute to the planning and execution of tasks in order to deliver specific agreed objectives on time, demonstrating control of cost and quality Support the progress of designs through product lifecycle Understanding of the hazards and associated risks of any work conducted and, where required, safely use specialised equipment Understanding customer requirements and being able to translate these into engineering solutions Contribute to the delivery of conceptual designs, detail designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation and validation evidence for OT engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements Contribute to the production and delivery of high-quality technical reports and presentations Identify and support opportunities for cost savings, efficiency and business improvement Assist the Technical Lead in managing partnerships Support the Senior Engineer in scoping, planning, and estimating future activities Organise personal training and development under the guidance of a professional mentor What will Operational Technology Engineers get from us?
