Motor Vehicle Mechanic needed in Oldham Paying £13.30 per hr ref 0009 7659 /1
Full time hours on a temporary basis
* Responsibilities:
o Report to the Workshop Manager for vehicle inspection and testing to meet required standards.
o Perform maintenance and repairs on various vehicles and equipment efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Tasks:
1. Conduct tests per D.O.T. manual for:
+ Hackney carriage and private hire vehicles
+ Private motor vehicles and dual-purpose vehicles
+ All owned vehicles
2. Complete necessary documentation for tests.
3. Manage inspection and maintenance of test equipment and inventory accuracy.
4. Perform random quality checks on completed work and address sub-standard issues.
5. Ensure compliance with safe working practices and health regulations.
6. Monitor vehicle examination standards by other examiners.
7. Conduct planned service and safety inspections.
8. Diagnose faults and recommend cost-effective repairs.
9. Repair vehicles and equipment as directed.
10. Perform auto electrical repairs.
11. Order spare parts as needed.
12. Maintain a clean work area.
13. Respond to breakdowns and recover vehicles/equipment.
14. Occasionally collect spare parts from suppliers.
15. Complete time sheets and inspection reports in line with compliance standards.
16. Steam clean vehicles before repairs and for testing preparation.
17. Transport vehicles to specialist repairers and testing stations, addressing minor issues on-site.
18. Repair tools and equipment in the workplace.
19. Carry out welding and fabrication repairs.
20. Diagnose vehicle defects to assist colleagues and categorize repairs.
