As a Finance Assistant, you’ll provide essential financial and administrative support, ensuring accurate and timely accounting records. You’ll deliver consistent financial advice and guidance, helping maintain reliable management information across the Force.
Key duties:
1. Maintain accurate and timely accounting records in line with legislation, audit requirements, and data retention regulations.
2. Update financial systems supporting the Force’s £530m revenue and £35m capital budgets, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
3. Carry out routine financial admin tasks, manage inboxes, respond to queries, and contribute to the intranet's financial content.
4. Analyse and reconcile financial data to support informed decision-making and ensure proper stewardship of public funds.
5. Support audits by investigating financial processes, delivering year-end tasks, and providing financial guidance across the Force.
Key requirements:
1. Attained AAT level 2 or equivalent qualification or willing to work towards achieving.
2. Good standard of education with a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 9-4/A*-C, including maths or equivalent qualifications. Applicants who do not have the required GCSEs but possess relevant qualifications and/or experience will be considered on an individual basis.
3. Recent experience of working in a financial or administration environment including the provision of accurate, timely and appropriate accounting records.
4. Good verbal and written communication skills.
5. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
6. Skilled in using Microsoft Excel for financial data analysis and reporting.
7. Ability to maintain and manage financial records.
Desirable:
1. Experience of working in a large organisation and knowledge of the public sector would be an advantage.
