Our site in High Wycombe, UK, has an exciting opportunity for a Metal Additive Manufacturing (Metal AM) Engineer to support the manufacturing of metal 3D printed products, for a wide range of industries, ranging from motorsport or medical. The engineer is responsible for the Metal AM process and managing customer’s projects from initial enquiries, through to the delivery of the finished components. The role encompasses both office and workshop environments. RESPONSIBILITIES Reviewing design suitability for metal 3D printing and advising customers on changes Compiling presales quotations of time and cost for manufacture CAD file preparation, including 3D printing support structure design and allowance for post-process machining Defining manufacturing process flow and creation of supporting documentation Principle contact for customer enquiries and throughout the project Complying with EN9100 & ISO 9001 standards and developing new processes Technical report writing and completion of quality documentation Assisting in metrology and inspection of products (CMM, manual and laser scanning) Supporting sales team on customer visits, both on and off-site PROFILE Essential: Engineering degree or equivalent experience Proven ability to work with 3D CAD software Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances Enjoys team working Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written report writing Problem solver Desirable: 2 years minimum of related work experience in an engineering workshop environment, for production of metal products such as medical devices, aerospace, automotive or motorsport Experience of metal 3D printing technology (DMP/SLM/DMLS) advantageous, or any other 3D printing process. Training will be provided Experience of CAD CAM and CNC machining Working knowledge of inspection equipment and processes (CMM preferred) Experience of metallurgy and metals testing
