As a People Adviser, you will provide generalist People advice in all aspects of employment/People matters within your allocated business areas. Working as part of a supportive wider People team, the key responsibilities of this role will involve providing People advice across employee relations issues including sickness absence, grievance, disciplinary, capability and performance management, job evaluation, as well as advising on change management initiatives and reviewing People policies and procedures. The Council is currently embarking on an ambitious change programme, and there will also be opportunities to get involved in exciting pieces of work.
The successful postholder will benefit from excellent support within the team and will be able to excel in a culture where we look to continually improve and develop so that our clients continue to see us as a service of choice.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
The postholder will need the ability to independently travel to locations across Northumberland; however, our Worksmart hybrid working model will enable you to work flexibly, balancing business needs with personal preference.
Essential requirements:
1. Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources or equivalent demonstrable portfolio of experience - this is a key requirement
2. Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
3. Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation and best practice and experience of applying this.
4. Effective negotiating/influencing skills.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan and co-ordinate activities.
7. Ability to build and maintain credibility with line managers.
8. Ability to analyse and make judgements involving complex facts or situations.
9. Maintains a professional demeanour in stressful and difficult situations.
Although not essential, we would welcome applicants that have previous public sector experience. Experience of Green book terms and conditions and Teachers terms and conditions would also be desired, although not essential.
