Overview:
The Director, Company Matters, will join one of the UK's largest secretarial teams on a hybrid basis from either our central London office or our city centre office in Leeds, meaning you'll need to be within a commutable distance from one of these locations. The team supports both domestic and international clients with all aspects of company secretarial services, governance advice, and statutory compliance.
We work with newly incorporated companies, companies at Pre-IPO stage, IPOs, and more established private, AIM, or Premium Main Market companies and investment trusts.
The Director, Company Matters, will oversee the day-to-day implementation of the Company Matters business strategy, driving the internal and external profile of the business and business growth, and providing strategic leadership. The role holder will plan, manage, and implement strategic initiatives that meet client needs, ensuring we deliver excellent relationship management and optimize relationships.
The role is a senior leadership role and has responsibility for helping to achieve MUFG Pension & Market Services' strategic priorities while building a high-performing culture and a great place to work.

What you need:
As with any role, we want to find the right person and we want to make sure you know it's the right role for you too. This means you'll really need:
1. A degree in Law, Business, Communications, Commerce, or related field.
2. 8+ years professional services and/or consulting experience working as a Company Secretary and/or in senior Finance/strategy/legal related roles.
3. An action and results-focused mindset.
4. Exceptional planning skills with a proven ability to work across and manage multiple in-flight projects.
5. An ability to influence others, facilitate consensus, and move stakeholders towards a common vision or goal, gaining buy-in at the same time.
6. Excellent critical thinking ability with a strong people management focus.
7. An understanding of the professional services model and experience of adapting/refining a business model to adapt to growth and market change.
8. Demonstrable experience of setting strategic direction and a clear vision for the team.
9. A strong awareness of UK and global governance trends.
10. Previous experience of P&L or budget management.
11. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to inspire confidence, influence, and motivate others.
12. A strategic mindset, with outstanding organizational and leadership skills, commercial acumen, and the courage, resilience, drive, and determination to lead a team.
13. Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
Day to Day, you will:
1. Define the strategic direction of the business in terms of the development/retention of our client base and resource, the shaping and evolution of our services and our profile in the marketplace.
2. Monitor the profitability and quality of workflows undertaken by the Company Matters business and encourage team members to do the same.
3. Work with the team to identify potential new product services, sectors, jurisdictions, and partnerships.
4. Provide high-level strategic planning support and expert advice for strategic initiatives.
5. Oversee the preparation of the annual budget, including highlighting risks and opportunities to be achieved.
6. Monitor expenditure and revenues to ensure profit targets are met, in addition to monitoring financial performance, and ensuring that internal financial and risk reporting obligations are met.
7. Provide overall leadership and guidance on management of business practices and processes as required.
8. Lead the Company Matters team in managing business performance and ensuring the allocation of work to practitioners is in line with budget.
9. Support the wider team to manage risk to the practitioners and business.
