Develop national, regional and global communications strategies on fostering climate friendly investments for parliamentarians to communicate effectively with different stakeholders. The role involves developing a communications strategy, liaising with in-country staff and global publications, contributing to communications materials and managing social media channels.
The Climate Parliament is an international network of legislators working to combat climate change. We work with national legislators in the Global South and have had a major impact on renewable energy budgets, laws and policies. We are implementing a new project - Parliamentarians for Climate Finance - in 15 African countries with support from the Green Climate Fund.
Key responsibilities include developing a communications strategy, liaising with in-country staff and global publications, contributing to communications materials and managing social media channels. The role also involves working with a small team of talented individuals in the secretariat and interacting with influential decision makers.
The ideal candidate will have a relevant university degree, good knowledge of communications platforms and effective strategies, and be fluent in spoken and written English. They will also be detail oriented, organised and self-motivated, able to work without day-to-day supervision.
The contract will run until 31 March 2026, with a possibility of a three-month extension. Depending on fund-raising, there may be further opportunities for working with the Climate Parliament.

Desirable skills include two plus years of relevant experience, knowledge of climate finance, renewable energy or climate science, and experience in development work, especially in Africa.
The Climate Parliament has no central office, and staff work from home in their own part of the world. You need to be sure that you will be happy working from home.
