Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, knowledgeable and trustworthy staff nurse to join our lovely team here at Millom Community Hospital.
The post is a 37.5 hours permanent position working as an integrated staff nurse between the 9 bedded in-patient unit and the District Nursing Team.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will be expected to take charge of the in-patient unit, caring for end-of-life patients and managing the rehabilitation of patients stepped down from the acute with the aim of discharging patients back to their own home.
There is also an expectation that the successful candidate will rotate between the ward and the district nursing team. Within the district team, the staff nurse will carry out clinical skills such as wound care, catheter care, assessments, and much more, but this will be discussed along with training opportunities on completion of the interview process.
Working for Our Organisation
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre that can help with a range of non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Experience
* Evidence of recent professional development.
* Experience of establishing effective communication.
* Working within a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience of implementing change.
* Previous experience within designated area.
* Experience of mentoring and assessing members of the team.
* Experience as shift team leader.
Education and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (on the relevant part of the register for the post).
* Mentoring and assessing qualification or working towards.
* Post registration clinical course appropriate to area or willingness to undertake further training relevant to the post – and to use and maintain these skills in the delivery of care.
* ECDL or equivalent.
