A Primary School with an SEN unit located in Bootle, Liverpool, wishes to hire a part-time (Monday to Thursday, 8:20 - 3:15) Mental Health Support Worker for an immediate start. The successful applicant will join a supportive staff team and undertake regular training, with the opportunity for this to become a permanent position. Teaching Personnel Liverpool Primary branch works in partnership with this school to cater for all of their staffing needs.
The school caters for primary-aged children (aged 4-11) who struggle to access education due to their learning needs. Specifically, you will support children with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. The role will include undertaking structured and agreed learning activities/programmes, both on a 1-2-1 and small group basis, considering pupil learning styles.

Teaching Personnel's Mental Health Support Workers work with pupils who are achieving below mainstream school expectations, mainly due to low attendance and behaviour. Pupils may be at risk of exclusion or have been temporarily excluded. The role will involve working alongside key school staff to reduce levels of unauthorised absence and improve attendance and behaviour. Our staff builds productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model.
To be considered for the Mental Health Support Worker position, you will ideally have:
* Prior experience working with Special Educational Needs
* Experience supporting or assisting children with behaviour aged 4-11
* The ability to develop good relationships with pupils
* Safeguarding knowledge or training, level 1 or above
Mental Health Support Workers challenge and motivate pupils, promoting and reinforcing self-esteem while providing levels of individual pastoral support. This school is looking to recruit on a part-time basis, which could become permanent. However, if you are interested in this work on an ad-hoc supply basis, we welcome your application for supply work.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position, with the option to make this role permanent potentially available later.
