Serco Maritime have an exciting opportunity for a Deck Rating (EDH) to join the out of port team in Greenock. The rotation for this role is 6 weeks on/6 weeks off.
The purpose of the Deck Rating is to act as the main labour force on board their appointed vessel. The Deck Rating will carry out a range of duties in the task of assisting in the safe operation of the vessel or the handling of its cargo.
Serco Maritime deliver maritime support packages tailored to our customers’ needs all delivered within a national accreditation framework. As owners and operators of specialist vessels, from harbour workboats to oceangoing support vessels, we provide world class integrated maritime services both in the UK and abroad. Our vessels provide a range of support, which include for example: dive support, military training, submarine rescue exercises, target/test equipment deployment/recovery and passenger transfers.
Main duties:
1. Berthing/Slipping of the Vessel.
2. Ship Husbandry Tasks.
3. Ship Operational Tasks.
4. Cleaning Tasks as directed.
5. Drive/operate deck machinery including cranes.
6. Assist in repair and routine planned maintenance of ship’s equipment.
7. Machinery care, routine maintenance and lubrication
8. To be fully conversant with the use of all safety equipment, emergency procedures and contingency plans.
9. Aware of the company Safety Management System- specifically:
10. Permit to Work/Tag Out Systems
11. Shipboard Management Team
12. Shipboard Safety Committee
13. Be familiar with safety routines and ensure necessary safeguards are in place before any maintenance/repair work commences.

15. STCW Personal Survival Techniques (5 Year Refresher Course)
16. STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (5 Year Refresher Course)
17. STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (5 Year Refresher Course)
18. STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft (5 Year Refresher Course)
19. STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (5 Year Refresher Course)
20. STCW Elementary First Aid
21. Unrestricted ENG1
22. Passport
23. Methodical in approach
24. Good standard of education
